This page contains a list of useful links to organisations and websites where you can learn more about diabetes, access fact sheets and tools, and find information about support groups. There are also some links for health professionals.
Diabetes Support Queensland is here to help you access what you need to support your health, safety and wellbeing and we hope that this information will come in handy whether you’ve just been diagnosed, have been living with diabetes for some time, or are caring for someone with diabetes or someone who is at risk of diabetes.

About Diabetes
Learn more about diabetes, what it is, and how to manage it:
- Diabetes Australia is the national body for people affected by all types of diabetes. On this site you’ll find information about diabetes, it’s prevention, management, and ongoing research into this chronic health condition.
- At Diabetes Australia Living with Diabetes you can learn more about your health care team, the NDSS, effectively managing diabetes in daily life and preventing complications.
- Diabetes Queensland is a well-known source for information, educational programs and services, support, community connections, advice and advocacy for those living with or at risk of diabetes.
- The Diabetes Queensland What is Diabetes page will help you understand what diabetes is, what the symptoms are, the different types of diabetes, and how they affect the body.

Information and tools that you might find useful:
- ADEA Diabetes Care Pathways are PDF downloads that guide you in mapping your way through your diabetes journey, helping you to plan for the future and stay on track with the support of your Credentialled Diabetes Educator (CDE).
- Diabetes Queensland has fact sheets available to download in PDF format with information for people living with diabetes. Topics include adjusting to diabetes, monitoring blood glucose, healthy eating, physical activity, looking after yourself, travel, going to hospital, and more.
- Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute also provides fact sheets developed by the Institute’s experts, designed to help you better manage diabetes and stay healthy.
- You can use HealthDirect’s Risk Checker for diabetes, heart disease, and kidney disease to check whether you, or someone you care for is at risk of type 2 diabetes.

- Diabetes Queensland support page gives an overview of their advocacy and support services for Queenslanders living with diabetes.
- The Diabetes Queensland Live Your Life Community, one of the services provided by Diabetes Queensland offers diabetes education, advice, online forums, webinars, publications, recipes, discounts, access to psychologist services, advocacy and lobbying.
- Diabetes Queensland has a list of current Support Groups operating across Queensland.
- The NDSS peer support for diabetes page offers a downloadable peer support for diabetes fact sheet, with info about connecting with others who have diabetes and how it can help you feel less alone.
